The inauguration of the PHYTOREM® eco-wastewater treatment plant in Buros (French region)
The newly installed eco-wastewater treatment plant in the municipality of Buros (Pyrénées Atlantiques, France) has just been inaugurated in the presence of the Prefect of the department, the Vice-president of the General Council, the regional Director of the Water Agency and many local residents. This eco-wastewater treatment plant aims at treating the domestic wastewater of the municipality. It has a capacity of 300 population equivalent (50m3/j) and ensures a “zero discharge” result in low-water periods during three months and ensures complementary yields. It runs thanks to a 1,200m² bamboo plantation divided into four subplots of five different bamboo species. In addition to its landscape integration characteristics, this technique has permitted the municipality to increase its treatment capacity from 200 to 300 population equivalent. This has also allowed to implement two major projects: a medical home and a new district for home ownership and new services for the inhabitants.
