Stormwater are composed of runoff from roads, car parks, activity zones, waste centers, etc… caused by precipitation (rain, shower, storm, snow removal, etc.). These runoffs generally have low organic contamination and contain hydrocarbons, salts, heavy metals and small soil particles.
The extensive solutions work on existing soil and are based on the optimization of the interactions between the climate, the soil and the plants.
These solutions consist in establishing on existing soil bamboo plantations controlled by a rhizome barrier.
They are designed depending on the relationships between climate/soil/wastewater and on the discharge objectives.
This type of solutions run on solar energy and meets several different objectives:
- The “zero discharge” performance into surface water environment
- The compliance with discharge standards for infiltration water
- The sequestration of CO2: an 1 hectare mature bamboo plantation absorbs approximately 30 tons of CO2 per year.
- Biomass production
The PHYTOREM® extensive solutions can develop naturally: the same bamboo plantation can treat 50 to 100% of additional polluting load (hydrous and organic) in 5 to 10 years depending on the climate.
The PHYTOREM® intensive solutions are adapted to limited and small areas and or complex pollutions. They are on selected substrate and are particularly adapted to the industrial sector.
These solutions are optimized thanks to oxygen input and the control of the selected materials.
They permit collecting wastewater treated on limited areas.
